(Chandigarh) : Doctors in the Indian state of Haryana have removed a tuft of hair weighing 1.5 kg from the abdomen of a five-year-old girl.

According to Indian media, five-year-old Gurpreet Kaur from Panchkula had been suffering from stomach ache for the last 10 days. Her parents took her to the Civil Hospital in Panchkula, where doctors performed a full test and recommended an operation.

Senior Surgeon Dr. Vivek Bhadwa and his team successfully operated on the girl and removed a bundle of hair weighing 1.5 kg from her abdomen. The girl's condition is fine after the operation but she has been kept under the care of doctors.

According to the girl's mother, when her daughter was two years old, she often had hair on her hands. The family never noticed that she ate hair. It was revealed when the girl was brought to the hospital due to abdominal pain.
