According to foreign media, a woman went into labor in northeastern Syria when an earthquake struck and a building fell on top of her. When the mother's life was buried under the debris, the newborn daughter also took her first breath. Very little information is available about the newborn girl and her family.
A massive rescue operation was launched in Jandrees, a rural area of Afrin, to save the newborn and her family, but the parents could not be saved alive. The newborn girl's parents were already displaced due to the ongoing civil war in Syria, but the earthquake also took their lives.
