(Karachi) Samsung, the world's largest mobile phone maker, has decided to set up a plant in Pakistan, with production likely to begin in the last quarter of this year.

The English daily Dawn quoted sources as claiming that Samsung had held talks with several companies regarding the plant in Pakistan after which the three parties have been shortlisted. Sources say that Samsung is now in the process of licensing a company and it is likely that local manufacturing of smartphones will start in the last quarter of this year.

Sources further said that Samsung is trying to forge a partnership with a Korean company already in Pakistan to make it easier for them to work.
