LAHORE: Pakistan has qualified for the baseball event of the
2022 Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China on September 18-22.
Pakistan Baseball Federation President Syed Fakhar Ali Shah said that Pakistan would be among the 12 baseball teams participating in the 19th edition of the Asian Gala.
Countries participating in the baseball event in Hangzhou include Japan (World No. 1), Korea (No. 2), Taiwan (No. 3), China (4), Pakistan (5), Hong Kong (6), Thailand and Indonesia. , Philippines, Singapore, Mongolia and Laos.
Fakhar said that even in the last Asian Games held in Jakarta, Pakistan was involved with a troubled team as the Pakistan Sports Board had sent only 16 players instead of a full 24-member squad.
He added that in Asia, Pakistan ranks fifth while the world's top countries like Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China also stand.
Fakhar remarked, "Although there is not a single regular baseball ground available in Pakistan, our players have achieved a good position in Asia and globally.
